Aoife (Kelly Gough) reluctantly leaves Dublin to return to her home in the Kerry Gaeltacht, intending to help her obstinate father Bear (Lorcan Cranitch) as he recovers from a heart attack. It’s a somewhat thankless task, and Aoife is haunted by memories of her dead mother. Escaping to the pub, she runs into local rowers boozing after a surprise victory in the county naomhog competition. She is drawn back to the water where she had once shown so much promise. Evocatively filmed along the beautiful Kerry coastline, this Irish language gem is a classic, feel-good sports drama that celebrates female solidarity.
