Twig

Twig (Sade Malone) dreams of escape from a lawless Dublin divided by gang warfare. She stands by her brothers Paulie (Justin Anene) and Eddie (Kawku Fortune), though recognises they are doomed while they are being manipulated by her godfather, the crime boss Leon (Brian F. O’Byrne). Twig is in love with Leon’s son Eamon (Donnacha Tynan). A brutal murder heightens tensions, inflames divided loyalties and motivates Twig to take fate into her own hands. Based on the Greek tragedy Antigone, Twig is an inspired, ambitious feature from Marian Quinn. There is an electrifying performance from Sade Malone in the title role, and she is at the centre of an exceptional cast reflective of a changing Ireland.
