Q-IFTUK – Celebrating Queer Irish Talent
Following the tremendous success of the Irish Pride Film Festival this July, we are thrilled to announce the launch of a brand-new division Q-IFTUK!
Q-IFTUK is led by the talented actor, presenter, and broadcaster Derek Murphy, who also co- founded and hosted this year’s Irish Pride Film Festival. With his passion for the arts and dedication to celebrating diverse voices, Derek is the perfect leader to bring this new initiative to life.
Q-IFTUK is a dynamic platform dedicated to promoting and celebrating queer Irish filmmakers, artists, and their art forms. We aim to spotlight the wealth of queer Irish talent not only from Ireland but within the vibrant Irish Diaspora in the UK and to the broader community at large. From film and television to performance art and beyond, Q-IFTUK will amplify the voices of queer Irish creators and provide a space for their unique stories and artistic expressions to be seen and heard.
We invite submissions, ideas, and contributions for upcoming LGBTQ+ events, film screenings, panel discussions, and creative showcases. If you have a project, an event, or a story that you believe would resonate with the community, we’d love to hear from you!

Masters at Work - 24th February
Join us on Tuesday 24th February at 6.30 for 7pm for a special edition of MASTERS AT WORK at the Century Club, 61-63 Shaftesbury Ave, London W1D 6LQ, to mark LGBTQ History Month. Hosted by Actor, Presenter and Broadcaster, Q-IFTUK’s Derek Murphy, the evening will feature a deep-dive conversation with three of the most exciting queer Irish writers working in the industry today.
Derek will be chatting with Amy Clarke: the award-winning screenwriter from West Cork, whose debut short film, Sequins, screened at over 24 international festivals (including BAFTA and Oscar qualifiers). Amy is currently developing the stage play Mammy’s House, & her comedy pilot Coming of Age was a 2025 Austin Film Festival Second Rounder.
Also on the panel will be Alan Flanagan, the prolific writer, script editor, and lecturer, with over 15 years of experience. His credits include over 60 episodes of Channel 4’s Hollyoaks (winning a British Soap Award) and the horror audio drama Dark Shadows. A BBC Drama Room alumnus, Alan is currently developing several television projects and a feature-length slasher film.
IFTUK Advisory Group Member, Jack C Irwin, will also be joining them - a graduate of Trinity College Dublin and King’s College London, Jack's work tackles complex historical and social themes. His debut feature film, Charlie Safe Home, explores the intersection of autism and the Great War, while his latest TV thriller, Jihadi Joe, centres on a plot involving the UK’s first openly gay Muslim Prime Minister.
The workshop will be followed by networking at the Century Club.
