King Frankie

Frankie Burke (Peter Coonan) is a taxi driver dealing with the death of his father. At the funeral, he is forced to confront the consequences of his attempts to grab the tail of the Celtic Tiger ten years previously, and how events at his daughter’s eighth birthday party led him to the diminished circumstances he finds himself in. King Frankie is the striking directorial debut from Dermot Malone. Scenes deftly shifts between past and present, and there are notable performances from an exceptional cast, with Coonan an electrifying presence throughout. He is the beating heart of this emotionally charged drama, the denouement of which carries a weighty, emotional punch.
