The Company of Wolves
The Company of Wolves
“...if there is a beast inside every man, he meets his match in the beast inside of every woman.”
Once upon a time, there were simplistic tales of Little Red Riding Hood. Then Neil Jordan brought us into a fantastical world of fear, desire and dark enchantment. On its 40th anniversary, we celebrate this hugely influential film and its director. Co-written with author Angela Carter and produced by Stephen Woolley, Jordan put this early marker down as an extraordinary artist. Stunning wolf, human and nature transformations are beautifully realised with crafted practical (not digital) effects. We are pulled into this intoxicating fearful forest by our eyes, feeling echoes of our own sexual awakenings in the strange flesh and bone authenticity of these vivid dream stories that make for an inescapable cinematic experience.
